Ionia fell to rival Lakewood 27-0 on Senior Night. The Bulldogs’ defense battled throughout the night and continued to give the offense opportunities, but unfortunately, Ionia was unable to find its rhythm offensively.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were led by Ethan Wenzel with 6 tackles. Grant Starks, Bryce Shattuck, and Kyle Cusack each contributed 4 tackles, while Tanner Batista added 4 tackles and a sack.

Although the result wasn’t what we wanted, we are proud of the fight and effort our players continued to show. Senior Night is always a special opportunity to recognize the commitment and dedication of our seniors, and we thank them for everything they have given to Ionia Football.

The Ionia JV football team brought their season to a close on Thursday night falling to Lakewood 54-0. While the Bulldogs didn’t come away with the outcome they were aiming for, this group put together a fantastic season marked by tremendous growth, grit, and heart.

Offensively, the Bulldogs showcased a balanced backfield attack. Landon Gerstein, Neithan Cruz, and Tony Rood led the charge in total yardage, spearheading a solid collective effort on the ground.

On the defensive side of the ball, several players delivered standout performances. Austin Henry, Teric Hogan, and Isaiah Applegate set the tone and led the team in tackles, with valuable defensive contributions and support from Ben Ludwick and Ethan McCarn.
